Former NFL star and QB of LA Chargers Philip Rivers is on a roll again, with a score of 10. He revealed through AL.com that he and his wife Tiffany are expecting a son around October of this year, his tenth. The declaration was made at a 7-on-7 event in Daphne on 12th July. And, to add to that, it’s not something strange or new for him as his parents and grandparents have almost a similar number of kids. 

Rivers couple already has nine children from their 22 years of marriage. They have seven girls and two boys already, all aged from 4 to 21. Interestingly, there has been a sort of unspoken family tradition to have nine kids. However, he has done one better while continuing the legacy. But why?

Philips Rivers: “We Decided To Go Double Digits”

Tiffany will be a mother again. The couple will have another child, after almost four years. “We’ve had one pretty much every two years and now this is the longest gap,” Rivers said. “We are all fired up. Everyone was pulling for a boy. Even our girls wanted a boy.”

Philips and Tiffany never had a number in mind when they started. They were open to whatever god had for them. “We thought we would be the third generation of nine, but we decided to go double-digits – or I should we didn’t decide it. God decided,” he said.

Philips is no stranger to big families. His mother and grandfather both come from a family of nine children. They both followed a similar pattern of seven girls and two boys. Philips’s father only had two siblings while growing up.

Rivers family is a big team

Philips Rivers has a devout Catholic family and has credited his wife’s strength to raising such a big family. When Philips is out during NFL season, he comes home every Wednesday or Thursday to spend time with the family. It is hectic, but he enjoys doing it. During the off-season, Philips is mostly home taking care of the kids or spending time with them. He coaches Little League Teams during the off-season as well.

The couple has kids in the following order. Halle 21, Caroline 18, Grace 17, Gunner 15, Sarah 13, Peter 11, Rebecca 9, Clare 7, and Anna 4. Halle is already in college while all of the other kids are either Pre-schoolers or already in school.

Philips is currently serving his third season as Head Coach for St. Michael. He has an 11-8 record in his first two seasons. His son is also a part of the team. The couple has not named their child “We are still kind of figuring that out,” he said. “We have plenty of opinions. That is what we’ve got right now.”
