The Super Bowl LVII is just around the corner and the world is ready for the showdown. Many legends of the game will feature in the coverage for different networks. But the fans will not see the Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin analyzing the big game on the NFL Network. ESPN and the NFL Network have removed the former wide receiver from Super Bowl coverage after a strange incident involving a young woman.

The NFL Network and ESPN have removed legendary Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin from their Super Bowl LVII coverage. This comes after his alleged interaction with a young woman. The woman complained about his conduct during their Sunday evening interaction in an Arizona hotel, and the networks took action. The details of the complainant are not yet public.

Irvin defended himself and described the interaction as brief and friendly. According to him, it all happened in a mere 45 seconds.

“Honestly, I’m a bit baffled with it all. This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out. I came into the lobby, and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl,” Irvin told The Dallas Morning News.

The Super Bowl champion said he did not recall the conversation. And he is totally perplexed by the situation.

“I don’t really recall that conversation, to tell you the truth. We were out drinking. It was just a friendly conversation. ‘What’s up?’ I don’t even know. … I am totally perplexed,” Irvin added.

Irvin played for the Cowboys his entire NFL career and won three Super Bowl titles with the franchise in the 90s. That was the last time the Cowboys won the Vince Lombardi trophy. 

The Cowboys’ golden age

Michael Irvin was a part of the golden age of the Cowboys in the 90s. The franchise won three Super Bowl titles in a span of four seasons with QB Troy Aikman under center. That was the start of the Jerry Jones era in Dallas. The franchise hasn’t won any Super Bowl ever since.

Irvin is a five-time Pro Bowler who racked up 11,904 receiving yards in his career. The Pro Football Hall of Famer found the endzone 65 times for the Cowboys. Will Irvin return to NFL broadcast next season?
