The Queen of Rock’n Roll has left her empire behind. On Wednesday, 4th May 2023, the world lost one of the greatest artists in the history of American Music at the age of 83. With an astounding collection of achievements, Tina Tuner’s musical prowess garnered her 8 Grammy Awards and a staggering 25 nominations. Beyond the Grammys, her extraordinary talent earned her more than 160 prestigious accolades, solidifying her status as a true legend. Not only did she conquer the charts, but her illustrious career also amassed a fortune of $250 million.

In the wake of her passing, an overwhelming wave of sorrow swept across millions. The news reached far and wide, prompting a heartfelt tributee by former POTUS, Barack Obama. Even Russell Wilson, QB of the Denver Broncos, took to Twitter to mourn the loss of this legendary artist, sharing a beaming photograph of Tina with the caption, “R.I.P. Queen.”

However, Tina Turner’s ascent to greatness was far from a smooth path. Enduring an abusive marriage and grappling with post-traumatic disorder, she defied the odds, channeling her resilience into her music.

Tina came from a sharecropping family in rural Tennessee. From an early age, she was very fond of singing. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, to chase her music career. Her career began to soar when she became the star of a music show alongside her ex-husband, Ike Turner. Unfortunately, their relationship turned bitter as Ike became increasingly abusive towards Tina. Eventually, they went through a difficult and unpleasant divorce. This left Tina burdened with overwhelming debt and the responsibility of raising their four children all by herself.

She managed to turn her life around with solo performances and had an epic comeback in the 80s after she was struggling to make ends meet. Her notable career includes record-breaking albums and also the heart-wrenching performance in the Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000. During this memorable event, she shared the stage with acclaimed musicians like Gloria Reuben, Travis Tritt, The Georgia Mass Choir, and the Georgia Tech Marching Band. Recognizing her legendary journey and work, former President Barack Obama also paid his tributes to the star.

The American-born musician died peacefully at her current house in Zurich, Switzerland. She moved to Switzerland with her partner in 1995. After Willson’s Twitter post, fans and friends from across the globe shared their memories and sent their love.
