The Las Vegas Raiders have a horrendous situation concerning Jimmy Garoppolo. The QB1 of the Raiders underwent foot surgery back in March and is still recovering. To make matters worse, the Las Vegas Raiders have no idea when Garoppolo will be back on the field, and even though the situation hasn’t gotten out of hand, it very well could.

With the clouds of uncertainty looming around Jimmy Garoppolo, the Raiders might have to start looking for potential QB alternatives. So far, the Raiders are hopeful of Garoppolo returning for the 2023 season, but if the injuries continue lingering on till late July or early August, then the franchise might have to make a decision. With all of the chaos, former NFL veteran, Pat McAfee, also had some opinions to share.

Pat McAfee is concerned for the Raiders

On 4th December, the San Francisco 49ers suffered a major setback as their QB1 Jimmy Garoppolo went down to a foot injury. Six months later, Garoppolo is still suffering the repercussions of that injury despite finding himself a better contract with the Raiders. The Raiders signed Garoppolo to a three-year, $72.75 million contract, but there were some amendments.

Turns out Garoppolo flunked the physical for the team, but the Raiders continued using a waiver as their primary alternative. The provision, titled Addendum G, would allow the Raiders to cut him at NO COST if he can’t pass a physical. On the contrary, if Garoppolo does pass the physical, he would still have to play at least one game before the rest of his $22.5 million salary for 2023 becomes guaranteed.

Speaking on the ultimatums surrounding Jimmy G, Pat McAfee had some rather insightful comments to pass.

“They’re just hoping that the foot will be able to recover by training camp is their prediction but nobody else has said Yeah, he’ll be back by training camp. What a clusterfu*k of a situation. And this is literally everything that’s ever said about Jimmy G,” expressed McAfee.

The former NFL veteran further raised concerns around a potential QB replacement but the Raiders are en route to securing themselves a GOAT-esque alternative.

Tom Brady to the Raiders?

Ever since Tom Brady has shown interest in an ownership role with the Raiders, fans have been looking forward to the NFL GOAT suiting up as the player-owner. Even former Dallas Cowboys legend, Troy Aikman has similar expectations from TB12 and the Raiders.

Recently, Brady and Mark Davis, the owner of the LV Raiders, reached an agreement surrounding TB12’s minority stake in the franchise. However, Brady suiting up seems highly unlikely, as he would need to garner the approval of all 24 NFL owners. But then again with Jimmy Garoppolo’s uncertain status, maybe Brady will emerge as the last option available for the Vegas franchise.
