Pat McAfee stole the show at WrestleMania last night. He had one of the most exciting matches of the night followed by a bout with the chairman himself. The former NFL players had one of the loudest receptions, maybe only falling short to the Stone Cold pop. But what led McAfee to WrestleMania?

A few weeks ago, Vince McMahon was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show. The owner of the WWE was very pleased by the success of the host. Inspired by McAfee’s love for wrestling, McMahon made the athlete an offer he could not refuse.

Pat McAfee has always dreamed of becoming a wrestler

Pat McAfee has been a lifelong fan of wrestling. The punter got his first taste of WWE when he started making appearances in NXT. The crowd loved him, and McAfee was having the time of his life. Seeing his charming personality, WWE signed a multi-year deal with the athlete, making him the color commentator of SmackDown Live.

McAfee has been inviting WWE wrestlers and personalities to his YouTube talk show. It has given us a lot of memorable moments over the months. For one of the episodes, McAfee invited the chairman of WWE Vince McMahon. There were wild rumors going around that McMahon will face McAfee at WrestleMania. But that was not the case. Vince invited Pat to Mania to face an opponent of the Bosses’ choosing. It was later revealed that McAfee will be facing McMahon’s protege Austin Theory.

Theory is a bright young star in the industry. The 24-year-old made his wrestling debut in 2016. He is a former Evolve Champion. Theory signed with NXT in 2019. And he made his WrestleMania debut alongside McAfee last night.

McAfee at WrestleMania 

The Pat McAfee vs Austin Theory match on day two of WrestleMania last night might have stolen the show. The former football player showed incredible talent. He was unstoppable. McAfee was able to keep up with Theory and come out on top. 

After the match, Vince McMahon challenged McAfee to another bout. The athlete agreed the bell rang, but Pat lost due to Theory’s constant interference. Stone Cold Steve Austin came out to save the day and stun everyone. The Texas Rattlesnake shared a beer with McAfee only to hit him with a stunner. You never know what to expect at WrestleMania. These matches were the perfect example.
