Tom Brady and his former wife, Gisele Bündchen, announced their divorce last month. The Brazilian supermodel and TB12 spent nearly 14 years together, and rumors of an impending divorce were doing the rounds for quite some time. 

When it comes to power couples getting a divorce, it doesn’t get more high profile than Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. In her 2018 book, ‘Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,’ the mother of two shed light on reasons that possibly contributed to her future divorce. 

Gisele Bündchen had a unique coping mechanism for Tom Brady’s absence

TB12 and Gisele Bündchen announced the finalization of their divorce on Instagram. In her book, Gisele details how football has always been the priority for her seven-time Super Bowl winner, and former husband. The former Victoria’s Secret supermodel used her father’s coping mechanism to deal with the tough times.

Bündchen wrote about the times she was upset with Tom Brady. However, the couple always resolved things through peaceful communication. The model’s secret for composure was her father’s advice. That advice was hand-written letters. Whenever Brady and Bündchen had an argument, Tampa Tom would use the services of email or text. However, Gisele didn’t like the “danger of impulsively pressing send and then not being able to take my email back.”

On one particular occasion, during Tom Brady’s time with the New England Patriots, Bündchen and her letters saved their relationship. The QB sent a hurtful email to his wife. However, she didn’t reply and took to her pen instead. This gave her time to collect her thoughts and not aggravate the solution. “Tom and I don’t argue much, but sometimes, when I feel anger rising in me — growing, growing — I become aware of what’s going on,” The supermodel wrote in her book. “Instead of reacting in a way that I’ll regret later, I remember to breathe.”

TB12 and Bündchen have moved on pleasantly

Tom Brady announced his retirement in February 2022 and changed his mind only 40 days later. This was the last nail in the coffin for the couple. Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a rough start to the season with Brady’s underperformance owing to problems with Gisele. However, the QB has bounced back after the divorce with back-t0-back wins in the past two weeks.

The couple’s priority has always been their two children, Benjamin and Vivian. Brady and Bündchen share a joint custodial co-parenting plan according to the final divorce settlement.

Gisele Bündchen has also mapped out the next steps in her future. The supermodel reportedly wants to get back into the world of fashion and was recently spotted shopping in Miami Beach with her two children. She is spending quality family time at their country home in Costa Rica, while Brady and the 5-5 Bucs travel to Cleveland next for the 3-6 Browns.
