Patrick Mahomes wants safer fields
In a recent statement by the NFL players’ Association (NFLPA) players’ health and safety were addressed as a priority. The column demands an immediate banning of film slit turf as it calls for its replacement from existing stadiums. They even noted that seven teams across the league currently have this turf as their primary playing surface. They also stated that the NFL has acknowledged it as less safe but still not made it their primary concern to change anything about it in the near future.
Field conditions impact everyone, from players to fans to coaches and GMs. No one wants to see players sidelined by injury because owners choose to save money over a bad field. #SaferFields @NFLPA @nfl

The NFL and the franchises make millions off the players year after year. Keeping their safety in mind, players urge team owners and the league to use the revenue to improvise playing conditions. As they continue to use technology to advance the equipment for the game, it’s equally important for them to utilize data and technology at hand to ensure the best playing surfaces for athletes.
The NFL season has just arrived at its midpoint. Teams will look to either continue on their good run or improvise on poor form. Injuries have already ruled out players for the rest of the season. Players will hope they aren’t victims of more surface-related injuries as these things can make or break a team’s season.
