Quarterback Joe Burrow helped Cincinnati Bengals end a 31-year long drought by winning the Wild Card game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s truly a historic moment for the Bengals and a remarkable one for Burrow, too. The quarterback has started to establish himself as one of the best quarterbacks of the franchise.

He has led the Bengals through a phenomenal season and now a playoff win and that too with a team that went 2-14 in 2019 and 4-11-1 in 2020. The 2021 season has seen an exponential improvement in the performance of the team, and that is mostly because of the partnership between Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.

During the first Wild Card game of the season, the Bengals hosted the Raiders just to end their campaign by 26-19. The game was dominated by the home side through and through and there is no room for doubt that Ja’Marr Chase was the main target for the quarterback.

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase to the rescue again
Ja’Marr finished with nine receptions for 116 yards averaging 12.9 yards per carry. Although he did not score a touchdown, but he made valuable plays throughout the game. While Burrow finished with 24 of 34 passes covering 244 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers.

However, the Raiders retaliated in the end, as Derek Carr was on the lookout for more opportunities. Yet his failed pass attempts cost them the game. While on the other hand, Joe Burrow consistently hurled the ball with razor sharp precision. And that was the only difference that made the Bengals stand out.
The Bengals are certainly testing their limits this season. Their story of going from a 2-14 record to claiming a spot at the Divisional Round is no less of a ‘rags to riches’ kind of story. With the franchise marching forward dominantly, it is to be seen which team do they meet up in the Divisional Round.
