Will Jordyn Nelson Come out of Retirement to Play for Green Bay Packers

Many experts believe that the Green Bay Packers are quite weak at the wide receiver position. During the 2020 NFL draft, the franchise chose to pass on drafting a pass catcher in a loaded class, a move that surprised many. To make matters worse, the Packers still elected not to add a wideout to their squad.
Recently, radio host Pat McAfee spoke to Packers legend Jordy Nelson. He pitched the idea of Nelson coming out of retirement to rejoin the team. However, the former Pro Bowler quickly shut down that notion with a savage joke about NBC analyst Chris Simms. He took a dig at how wrong his scoops have been of late.

Trolling aside, his stunt did speak volumes about his plans for the future. In other words, he is perfectly happy with how his career has panned out and has no intention of spurning retirement.
In nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Nelson posted 550 receptions for 7,848 yards. This was good for a whopping 14.3 yards per catch and 69 touchdowns. Those numbers all rank in the top five in Packers history.

Nelson also spoke about under-fire quarterback Derek Carr and his struggles. Carr has faced plenty of criticism over the years since his numbers dipped after 2016.

Speaking about whether Carr deserved the criticism, he said, “No, it’s not, Guy’s extremely smart, very talented, works extremely hard, can make the throws, does it all. I think he’s been in a tough situation. I think similar to what Alex Smith dealt with with the 49ers of just constantly rotating through coaches and offensive coordinators.”
“You compare that to Aaron [Rodgers] in Green Bay where he was in the same offense for ten plus years, the same receivers that were there for like six, eight years at a time that slowly developed and figured out the system and got that chemistry going … it makes a difference when you’re not able to keep that chemistry from year one to year eight to 10.”
