While the Patriots vs Raiders game on Sunday, looked all set for overtime, the viewers were surprised with once-in-1000 plays. Unfortunately for the Pats, the play came to bite them at the end and gave the Raiders the win. With only 3 seconds remaining, Mac Jones had the ball at the 45-yard line of his own team. He decided to run the ball with Stevenson, who, instead of going down after winding up the clock, handed it off to Jakobi Meyers. While teams should already have stepped into the OT, Meyers opted to throw a lateral for some reason. However, the pass was intercepted by Chandler Jones for a winning TD for the Raiders.

Although Meyers left the field as a villain for the fans on Sunday, he has since gained a lot of respect for his way of dealing with the media for his mistake. Instead of hiding away or deflecting, the WR has taken full responsibility for the last play of the game. “Trying to do too much, trying to be a hero, I guess,” admitted Meyers. “I didn’t see the dude [Chandler Jones] back there tracking the ball. I was doing too much. Should’ve just went down with the ball. That was just me trying to make a play.”

The Patriots can not look away from the error that cost them the match. But apart from that, they can take out one positive as their QB Mac Jones and RB Rhamondre Stevenson have come forward in order to share the weight of the loss. Stevenson said, after the game, “There was only a couple seconds on the clock. I felt like I should’ve just did just that and just got down. The play started off with me with the ball, so if I didn’t pitch it back to [Meyers], Jakobi wouldn’t have had the chance to do that.”
