It came as a surprise to many when Marquette King reached out to Newton to play for his team for the remainder of the season. King was a former NFL punter and currently plays for the Arlington Renegades in the XFL.  It remains uncertain whether Newton will accept King’s proposal. However, given his bold statements about still being one of the best quarterbacks in the league, it’s anyone’s guess if he’ll leap at the chance to play in the XFL.

Can Newton actually play in the XFL?

Newton has always been a competitor at heart, and he likely still harbors dreams of returning to the NFL and reclaiming his place among the game’s elite quarterbacks. That being said, there are definitely arguments to be made for why the XFL might be a good fit for Newton at this point in his career.

For one thing, it would offer him the chance to continue playing football at a high level, even if it’s not in the NFL. This presents him with a chance to showcase his skills to NFL scouts and teams. It’s possible that Newton simply isn’t interested in playing in the XFL. Either way, fans of the game are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for one of the most dynamic quarterbacks to ever enter the league.
