Former Bengals wide receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson lauded the XFL for providing opportunities to football players. He said, “Really enjoying the XFL & the opportunity for these fellas to get to or return the big stage on Sundays.”

CFL running back, James Butler, also showed his love for the XFL on Twitter. The XFL is so dope,” Butler tweeted. Apart from the NFL world, media personalities are also showing support for The Rock’s football league. American journalist Mina Kimes wrote, “Okay the XFL’s 4th and 15 conversion kinda rules.”

On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson also talked about the quality of the XFL. He tweeted, Our #XFL quality of play has been fantastic. Players balling out and showing how hungry they are.

The XFL started on 18th February and has been getting a lot of attention from fans and media. Although it’s not as big as the NFL, it can certainly be used as a development league, which could benefit the NFL as well.

The History of Extreme Football League

World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as WWE, founded the Extreme Football League back in 1999. Initially, they focused more on entertainment than the actual quality of the play. Hence, fans lost interest in the league and eventually, it was folded in 2001.

However, Vince McMahon (WWE chairman) decided to bring it back in 2020, which garnered plenty of interest from fans. However, due to the pandemic, they had to shut down the league. Since The Rock bought the league, XFL has now started once again in 2023. This time, they are focusing more on quality than entertainment.
