The sports industry is as cutthroat as it gets. Personal biases and flare-ups between teams, management, and players can determine the future of an individual in more ways than one. Coach Jimmy Johnson is living proof of the same. The Hall of Fame inducted head coach is one of the greatest minds to ever enter the football world. But almost 3 decades since he won 2 Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys, Coach Johnson is still haunted by his relationship with Jerry Jones.
Johnson has solidified his position as one of the greatest coaches in the game of football. The bitter rivalry between Jerry Jones and Coach Johnson
After his formidable stint with the Hurricanes, Johnson was scalped by Jerry Jones himself to become the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Under the leadership of Johnson, the Cowboys would go on to win consecutive Super Bowls, with the second one being the last season that Johnson would stand as the Cowboys’ HC.
Due to contract negotiation issues and internal matters, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Johnson would grow distant, eventually turning their friendship into a bitter cold war. Since then, Johnson has earned many accolades for his coaching prowess. But the legendary HC still awaits an inclusion into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. While it is baffling to think that a coach as successful as Johnson has still not been honored by the Cowboys, the final say for the induction into the team’s Ring of Honor lies in the hands of Jones. As the 80-year-old franchise owner continues his feud with Johnson, questions on Johnson’s exclusion continue to mount.
