With the vast trove of experience that he boasts of, it’s safe to say that Brees can spot a star player from the rest of the pack.

Following the game against the Minnesota Vikings earlier this week, Brees declared his admiration for Vikings’ wide receiver Justin Jefferson. In an autographed Jersey, the veteran QB wrote that he sees Jefferson become one of the greats down the line.

“You are the next generation of great ones. Keep ballin! More importantly, keep inspiring,” wrote Brees in the autographed jersey for Jefferson. The wide receiver had later shared a story of the jersey on his Instagram.

The 2020 season has been a disappointment for the Minnesota-based franchise. Sitting 3rd in the NFC North with a 6-9 record, the Vikings have struggled to get going this season.

After losing Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills, many expected the Vikings to struggle on the aerial routes. But the rookie from LSU has done admirably to soften the blow.

Recording over 1,200+ passing yards, the WR is a firm favorite for the offensive Rookie of the Year award this season.

With the numbers that he’s put up so far, Jefferson is in striking distance of breaking the NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie. Though his team has struggled to win games, Jefferson has been reliable as far as gaining crucial yardage is concerned.

The 21-year-old is also only the 5th rookie wide receiver in the past 20 years to be named to the Pro Bowl. A testament to just how good Jefferson has been all season.

The future is bright for Vikings WR

In the game against the New Orleans Saints, Jefferson recorded 85 yards while averaging 14.17 yards per carry. Drew Brees spotted the potential in Jefferson and was not one to shy away from voicing his opinion about him.

Vikings fans will be happy that despite their disappointing season, they’ve potentially unearthed a gem of a player for the future. Leading his side for receiving yards, Jefferson in time could become a household name for the franchise.

The franchise is not one that is new to drafting in a superstar wide receiver. After all, they’d drafted one of the best to have ever played the game in Randy Moss.

While comparisons to Moss might be too early, Jefferson definitely has the potential to be the Minnesota Vikings’ next big superstar.
