Las Vegas is currently in a celebration mode. The Sin City is basking in the glory, not of a sin this time but a great sporting achievement. So, like everyone in the city, its NFL franchise also joined in the celebrations. Almost Tom Brady owned Las Vegas Raiders tried to jump on the celebration bandwagon but faced a lot of fan indifference.

The Raiders haven’t had any big success for a long time now. The last time they won a Super Bowl was when Ronald Reagan was the President of the United States. Now with Brady’s imminent involvement, many believe that things could take a turn for the better. But many fans showed their indifference to the franchise on a night that everyone in Las Vegas was out there partying.

The Vegas Golden Knights did the Sin City proud by lifting the Stanley Cup on Tuesday night. Playing just their sixth season in the National Hockey League, the franchise defeated the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game four to win the finals 4-1. The Raiders applauded the achievement by lighting up the Allegiant Stadium in honor of the new NHL champions.

While Vegas fans are jubilant with the Golden Knights bringing the Stanley Cup home, they did not show the same love for their NFL franchise. Many fans trolled the Raiders about even their relevance in the city’s sports scene. Here is how fans reacted to the football franchise’s tweet.

“At least one team knows how to win something in Vegas. Only thing you’re trying to win this year is last place in the division,” a fan shot back.

“Y’all could never,” another fan wrote in their tweet.

“You guys are irrelevant in Las Vegas lol,” a fan said in reply.

“Ok. So WNBA Champs, NHL Champs. 2 of 3 pro teams. Raiders??? I’d be happy for a winning record,” another fan wrote.

“I’ll congratulate them when you win another Super Bowl,” a fan said.

The Raiders last won a Super Bowl title way back in 1984. Looks like the patience of the fans is waning after all these years. Can Tom Brady’s entry into the Vegas sports scene change that?

The Tom Brady effect

Tom Brady is in the process of buying a minority share in the Raiders. It is a team that requires a big overhaul. Maybe Brady’s expertise was all that was missing from the team. Will they be able to turn their recent fortunes around?

The team has reached the playoffs just twice in the last decade. And they last won in the postseason back in the 2002 season, when they made it to the Super Bowl. The organization will surely learn a lot from Brady, who has appeared in 10 Super Bowls and won seven of them. That building needs that kind of winning mentality. It needs the Tom Brady effect.

Though it is worth noting that Brady will join the franchise ownership in a passive capacity. He is still committed to the $375 million Fox broadcasting deal he signed last year. But the Raiders will hope that he inspires the team to go do the unthinkable in the upcoming season. Can Jimmy Garoppolo and the boys bring the Raiders back on the Sin City sports map?
