SI reported that Barkley is unhappy with his contract and wants more respect. Barkley thinks he is one of the best running backs in the league and deserves to be paid accordingly. RB hopes his absence will make the Giants realize how much they need him. He even went as far as to say that he might not play at all if it helps him prove his value.

Barkley shared his thoughts on the Money Matters podcast, saying, “My leverage is I could say, ‘f*** you’ to the Giants, I could say, ‘f*** you’ to my teammates. And be like, ‘You want me to show you my worth? You want me to show you how valuable I am to the team? I won’t show up. I won’t play a down.’ And that’s a play I could use.”

However, he did mention, he never thought he would consider doing it, “Anybody who knows me knows that’s not something I want to do” Barkley is unsure if he’s ready and willing to do it, “I might have to take it to this level. Am I prepared and willing to take it to the level? I don’t know.” He said about a serious discussion with his family and team to plan carefully.

NFL’s running backs fight back

Via Twitter, running back Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers expressed his frustration with the devaluation of the running back position in the NFL. He believes that this mindset has diminished the importance of one of the most crucial positions in the game. Ekeler supports any running back who takes whatever measures necessary to secure their financial worth.

They set the tone, give their all for the team, and lead in various ways. Despite a few running backs like Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry receiving significant contract extensions, many others feel undervalued including Josh Jacobs.
