Things have not been great for the Chicago Bears in recent times. The team has been struggling for about a year to get a win and, adding to their troubles, their defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned a few weeks ago. Despite all of this, Matt Eberflus, the head coach, was pretty sure that the situation wouldn’t really affect the Bears. However, this has not been the case as the Bears have lost 13 games in a row till now.

The team was left stranded ever since and cannot seem to shake off their bad luck as they lost to the Denver Broncos 28-31. As it stands, the Bears are at 0-4 as the Broncos get their first win after 3 losses. Even after a solid start, the Bears faced disappointment in a high-stakes game. Now, they are at the bottom of the NFC North standings.

Broncos started the kick-off and sometime into the first quarter, Jaleel McLaughlin caught an 18-yard reception and headed to the endzone for a touchdown. The Bears’ D.J. Moore replied to it with a 29-yard reception and a touchdown, tying the game. This was followed by another 22-yard pass by Justin Fields to Cole Kmet. However, Kmet and Fields didn’t stop there as Fields assisted Kmet in another touchdown, making the score 20-7 in the Bears’ favor. They kept the momentum until the third quarter when Khalil Herbert went for another touchdown.

Things started to get better for the Broncos in the 3 quarter when Russell Wilson threw a touchdown pass to the rookie WR, Brandon Johnson, bringing the scoreboard to 28-14. Russell Wilson was on a roll when he assisted the WR Courtland Sutton for another touchdown. The Bears were still leading, but a fumble from the team changed the possession after Jonathan Cooper recovered the ball and ran for a touchdown tying the scoreboard. The game ended with a field goal from Will Lutz after the 50-yard reception by Marvin Mims which put the Broncos in range.

The Broncos bounce back

The Bronco’s winning this game has been a huge advancement for them as this is the first regular season that they have won. This lands them at 1-3, still on the losing side. However, trailing behind or not, the Bronco’s comeback has been unreal, and they fought till the last second to make that win happen. As for the Bears, they are now in 4 position in the NFC North standings and the Broncos are 4 in the AFC West standings.

While this game showed us that there is still light at the end of the tunnel for the Broncos, the same cannot be said about the Chicago Bears. The turmoil that the team is in currently just keeps on piling up. Hopefully, they make a comeback and head for the playoffs, which seems unlikely given this kind of performance.
