After a long and taxing season, the Philadelphia Eagles have finally decided to part ways with Head Coach Doug Pederson earlier this week. Franchise owner Jeffrey Lurie confirmed the same with an official statement via the team’s official handle on Tuesday.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and everything we have accomplished together over the last five seasons. Everyone in the organization understands the type of man and coach that he is, and how much he means to all of us as well as the City of Philadelphia.

“We all look forward to the day he will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame as a Super Bowl-winning head coach, and we are confident he will have success with his next team.

“But as the leader of this organization, it is imperative for me to do what I believe is best for everyone as we look ahead to the future and move into our next chapter.

“I know that we have work to do to get back to where we want to be, but I also believe that we have an exceptionally strong group of people in this organization who can help set us up for future success,” Lurie said.

Brian Daboll (45)

Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator, Brian Daboll, is one name being linked to the vacant position in Philadelphia. Daboll has been given credit for turning the Bills into genuine Super Bowl contenders under the tutelage of HC Sean McDermott.

He is also said to be one of the major driving forces behind the development of star quarterback Josh Allen. Daboll has already been interviewed for the New York Jets Head Coach job. But with Jalen Hurts and Carson Wentz available in Philly, he might just be tempted to give it a shot.

Lincoln Riley (37)

Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Lincoln Riley has been dubbed as the ‘quarterback whisperer’. He has overseen the rise of the likes of Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts, in recent years.

Lincoln has done a brilliant job with the Sooners. He has a 45-8 record and at 37 presents Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie with an interesting choice.

Riley would definitely think twice about a potential reunion with Jalen in 2021. Of course, it will be interesting to see if he can be persuaded to give up his current position in order to take up the challenge in Philadelphia.

Eric Bieniemy (51)

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy seems to be the most-wanted man heading into the 2021 offseason. With multiple NFL teams without a Head Coach, all eyes are on Eric.

He is expected to part ways with the reigning Super Bowl champions at the end of this campaign. Are the Philadelphia Eagles his next destination?

Bieniemy is the oldest name on our list. But with age, comes invaluable wisdom and experience. It helps to know that Eric has a history with the Eagles, playing for the organization in 1999. But it will not be easy to lure the in-demand coach.

Duce Staley (45)

The outside contender for Pederson’s job is no one else but his assistant. Duce Staley served as the running backs/assistant coach while Doug was in charge in Philadelphia.

Staley is a well-known and revered figure in the Eagles’ organization. He is renowned for his communication skills and serves as a ‘teacher’ within the team.

He will know the current roster like the back of his hand, which is certainly an added bonus. But does he have the necessary experience to lead an NFL franchise in a new era? Debatable.
