Harrison Butker arrived in the NFL as a 7th-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2017. After being waived to the practice squad, Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs brought in Butker on a short-term deal in September.

He went on to have a record-breaking rookie season with the Chiefs that year. At just the end of his first month in the league, Butker earned 2 NFL records.

He made the most made field goals in a month for a rookie kicker and is the only player to make 5 field goals in multiple games of a rookie season.

Butker has been terrific for the Chiefs over the last 2 years. He played a crucial role as they won their first Super Bowl title in 50 years last season.

However, Butker will have a tough challenge ahead of him when the defending champions travel to Florida to play the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Harrison Butker gearing up for second consecutive Super Bowl with the Chiefs

NFL insider Mike Garafolo appeared on today’s installment of GMFB along with Shaun O’Hara, Michael Robinson hosted by Colleen Wolfe.

He had an interesting message for Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker with regards to the unorthodox playing conditions in Tampa Bay, Florida.

He said, “Cold weather teams have gone down to Tampa in the playoffs. And when in fact the last playoff game in Tampa was won by the New York Giants who won that game despite the fact that they were missing their most important player that day. It was their starting center.

“Anyway, I did talk to folks in Tampa and they did point to the ’play clock, we know the stadium inside and out’ kind of thing. So I agree with you on that one.

“But also they said maybe the kicking game because a lot of times kickers come into our building kind of have a tough time adjusting to the way that the winds come through our stadium,” Garafolo warned earlier today.

Butker will be eager to contribute when called upon by coach Reid in next month’s season finale. The Chiefs are on course to defend their title and they’ll need to put in a collective effort to do so. Make sure you tune in!
