The stage is set for another vintage Tom Brady performance in the Super Bowl. The 43-year-old, playing a record 10th Super Bowl game, will be taking on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the title showdown at Tampa, Florida.
While the Buccaneers will have to be wary of the threat that Mahomes and the Chiefs pose, there is one man in particular who Brady will have to look out for in the game.
And that man won’t even be on the field. Instead, he’ll be on the sidelines. The man we’re talking about is Chiefs’ Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Tom Brady and Spagnuolo share some history together
During a segment of GMFB, Mike Garafolo talked about the one man he’d pick as a coordinator to go up against Tom Brady. “Listen, if I want a coordinator going up against Tom Brady, it’s Steve Spagnuolo,” said Garafolo.
Garafolo made the statement given the history that the two share. The Chiefs‘ current Defensive Coordinator, after all, was the man whose scheme halted the Patriots & Brady from completing a perfect season.
“They met in 2007, at least when he was a coordinator, was in Week 17. The Patriots won that game 38-35. But we all know about that game and what it meant to the Giants’ defense.

“It gave some confidence really to the entire Giants team… For the rematch when they played again the Giants, (in the Super Bowl) they won it 17 to 14 with 5 sacks and 9 quarterback hits in that game,” he said.

In recent results as well, Spagnuolo is the man who’s had the last laugh.“Then last year, Kansas City went to New England wins 23-16 in an extremely physical game. 3 sacks, 6 hits on Brady.
“And then earlier this season 1 sack, 8 hits on Brady in a Kansas City win… He’s got something figured out, and it’s always close, and more often than not, it’s been in Spagnuolo’s favor,” he added.
