It’s happening. The moment combat sports fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Or maybe not. Ever since UFC entered the landscape alongside professional boxing, the debates have raged on about who would emerge victorious in an MMA vs Boxing bout. And who better to represent each house than two of the baddest and meanest men on the planet? It was the stuff of dreams, as the heavyweight champions from both camps engaged in a social media war. It was Jon Jones against Tyson Fury.

Instead of the ring or the octagon, the fighters chose Twitter to engage in a heated back-and-forth. It all started when podcaster, comedian, and UFC Commentator Joe Rogan made a bold prediction regarding the outcome if the two heavyweights faced off. Additionally, the Twitter feud had some background commentary from Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.

The mother of all fantasy fights is on the table. At least it’s closer than it has ever been, as the two champions sent open challenges to one another on Twitter. When it came to picking sides, host of The JRE podcast, Joe Rogan went with the UFC Heavyweight champion Jonny ‘Bones’ Jones in a no-rules fight. This didn’t sit well with the reigning WBC Heavyweight champion, Fury, who slammed Rogan and Jones in a video he posted on Twitter.

“I heard him say Jon Jones could f—k me up if we were out in a room together. I don’t think so. Not a man born from a mother can f—k me up. Whatever happens in that room, I’ll be walking out,” Fury said, after calling Joe Rogan a “little bald-headed m—-t.”

Bones replied with a post of his own. “Hey Tyson, it seems like Joe may have struck a nerve. I’ll admit there’s no one touching you in that ring right now, but let’s not let that confuse you with what would happen if you stepped foot in my cage. If you ever want to put some of those questions you got going on to rest, give Dana a call. I’ll help you out,” he said.

“Agreed. Every fight game ain’t the same my guy,” former Washington Commanders quarterback RGIII wrote, supposedly for Tyson Fury.

Robert Griffin III was definitely out of his seat as the battle gained fuel, and he also left a stunned reaction to Jon Jones’ post.

Jon Jones definitely came out on top of this online altercation. And Rogan and Griffin weren’t the only ones to come to the same conclusion.

“That’s not even a debate. There’s no question Jon Jones would beat the s—t out of Fury in a fight,” UFC Lightweight Renato Moicano tweeted. Bellator MMA welterweight Dillon Danis said he’s willing to put $20 million on Fury not surviving more than a minute in a fight. “Boxing isn’t fighting,” Sean Strickland perfectly summed it up for Fury.

Either way, fans will be ready in a heartbeat to flock beside the ring or the octagon if Jones and Fury sign off on a fight for the ages. As Jones rightly put it, all Tyson Fury has to do is pick up the phone and call Dana White.
