The Oscars 2022 included a moment that will never be forgotten. When Will Smith went on to the stage to slap Chris Rock, the world was shocked. Unsurprisingly, nobody saw that coming from an actor as reputed as Will Smith.

However, only people close to Chris and Rock can give out a neutral and fair opinion on the incident. One of them is the former NFL player turned TV star Terry Crews. The actor who is famous for his role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a close friend of both Chris Rock and Will Smith.

He was surprised, but he understands why Will decided to take such action. Notably, Terry appreciated Chris’ composure and matureness in handling the situation, which could have accelerated further.

Terry Crews appreciates Chris Rock for his calmness in handling the situation

The former NFL player Terry Crews talked about the incident at the Oscars. He gave a very brief and neutral view of the situation which could have gotten quite worse. He said, “Both Will Smith and Chris Rock are dear, dear friends of mine. I love them both as brothers, but there was a time in my life [where] I was Will Smith at that moment, and let me tell you, I’ve done worse than Will.”

Terry understands Will’s situation and claimed that any other man in his place could have done the same. However, he was very thankful that Chris didn’t try to accelerate the situation further.

Crews said, “When I look back, by what Chris did, by just deciding to hold everything together, it actually, I think in a lot of ways saved Hollywood.” Terry said, “Because if there would’ve been a brawl on that stage, I don’t know if Hollywood would’ve ever gotten any respect again, you know? It’s hard to even imagine what would’ve happened.”

Chris showed the real toughness claims Terry

In a world where toughness is indicated by the strength of a person to hurt or withstand any other person, surprisingly, Terry Crews claimed that Chris Rock showed the real act of toughness.

Terry said, “The true definition of toughness was what Chris did in taking a punch and then holding everything together and then showing tremendous endurance and resilience in the middle of obstacles.”

He added, “I think it was a miracle what Chris did, I really do. I couldn’t believe his poise in that moment. I thought, holy cow, we owe him a lot, I think every performer owes him so much because it just really saved Hollywood in that moment.”

It was truly remarkable on Chris Rock’s part that he was able to keep his composure. If he would have reacted differently, undoubtedly things could have gone quite worse.
