NFL Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster Announces Launch of Esports Organization

Wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, JuJu Smith-Schuster is also popular in the gaming community. He has expressed his interest in Esports publicly by playing games such as Fortnite. He also has a YouTube and a Twitch channel where he uploads and streams gaming content regularly. JuJu had joined Ninja and Drake playing Fortnite on Twitch, and the stream went on to become the most popular live stream on the platform.

JuJu had also partnered up with the FaZe Clan back in 2018 for the sale of merchandise and promotion. He has already earned a lot of accolades in football, but he doesn’t want to limit himself to a single field. Therefore, he has decided to launch a gaming organization of his own.

JuJu took to Twitter to announce the launch of his team. He tweeted, “Excited to announce the launch of my gaming organization @TeamDiverge, can’t wait to build and do big things!

The color scheme of his Esports team is inspired by his football team. Accents of yellow and black are used in the uniforms and logo of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Therefore, JuJu decided to use the same colors for Team Diverge.

Schuster also uploaded a reveal of his recruits on his YouTube channel. The trailer includes a roster of content creators, which includes Steelcurtain, Googz, Citizensnipes, Micawave, Tubasuki, Str8bussin, and Meatman. They have picked players from various gaming communities.

Team Diverge claims that they are “the World’s First Athlete-Led Gaming Entertainment & Lifestyle Company.” 

They definitely have an edge over other in marketing and popularity, especially with JuJu being a co-founder.

However, it is very early to decide whether Diverge can compete with the likes of Astralis, G2, FaZe, in the professional Esports scene. The trailer also highlights HyperX and Adidas, who are probably sponsoring Team Diverge. JuJu has big plans for his teams, and it will be exciting to see how this venture into gaming fares.
