Nick Kyrgios has taken a sly dig at a tennis journalist for stating a fact on next-generation star, Alexander Zverev, that he hasn’t claimed a single top 10 victory in the 2019 season.

Alexander Zverev was defeated by world No.7 Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(6), 6-4 in the semifinals of the China Open 2019 on Saturday. This was his 3rd top 10 defeat of the season and the 18th defeat overall in 2019.

Jose Morgado, who is a journalist at Diario Record, stated in a tweet that “Zverev has zero top 10 wins in 2019”

He further added, “To put this in context: Zverev, 22-year-old, has 21 career top 10 wins already. Four in the same week to win the ATP Finals 2018. Zero since.”

However, his tweet did not go down well with Nick Kyrgios as the Australian took a dig at him and retweeted with a comment saying – “And you will have zero in your entire life”.

Jose Morgado replied to the Australian that “it’s a fact.”

While some fans liked Nick Kyrgios take on the tennis reporter, but many criticized him for taking a dig at a journalist, who is not a professional player and so he will certainly not be able to claim a victory over the top 10 ATP players.

Earlier, Nick Kyrgios received a suspended 16-week ban and $25,000 (£20,300) fine for “aggravated behavior”, subject to a six-month probationary period.

However, the fine and suspension will be triggered only if the 24-year-old does not comply with certain conditions – including avoiding any further code violations incurring a fine.
