“Nick Kyrgios Has Built a Lot of Nonsense Himself” – Dominic Thiem Hits Back in Support of Alexander Zverev

Dominic Thiem recently in an interview supported Alexander Zverev against the criticism he is receiving for breaking his self-isolation. Both of them played in Novak Djokovic’s ill-fated Adria Tour and tested negative for coronavirus. But Zverev ran into trouble after being seen partying even though he pledged to quarantine himself for 14 days.

After testing negative Zverev gave an apology and said that he would quarantine himself for 14 days. But then after a few days, the German was seen partying.

Zverev has been criticized by everybody for his double standards. So his Adria Tour mate Dominic Thiem has come out to support him.

In an Interview with TT, Thiem mentions that he didn’t like the way people criticized Zverev. The World No.3 was asked about how he felt about it and this is what he said-

“He should have done it like me. He was also tested negatively, only his mistake was that he first wrote the statement and then had the bad luck of being filmed at the party. But I don’t like the way people criticize him. He is treated as if he were an elementary school child. But he’s a 23-year-old man. Sure, he made a mistake – but I don’t understand why everyone is getting involved.” Thiem said

Thiem also hit back at Nick Kyrgios. Kyrgios called Zverev ‘selfish’ for partying and risking other people’s life. The Australian went on a huge rant on twitter about Zverev. Thiem defended Zverev against Kyrgios’ comments, the Austrian deemed all his talk as nonsense and wanted Kyrgios to mind his own business.

“Kyrgios has built a lot of nonsense himself. I understand even less when he interferes with everything. It would be better if he came to terms with himself rather than always criticizing others.” said the World No.3

It all comes down to responsibility. Players need to be responsible as they have people behind them who are influenced by their actions. Causing unnecessary problems at this point is just reckless.
