After his victory, Nick Kyrgios spoke to Tennis Channel and he mentioned about his knee injury. “It’s feeling good now, I think I had to lay off the basketball a little bit, I was playing a lot of basketball in the preseason,” Kyrgios said. “That’s a question about my career right now, whether I’m willing to do the best for it. I went to Dallas. I got some treatment on my knee, and I stopped playing basketball completely, so now it’s feeling good.”

Nick Kyrgios turned up commentating during the Australian Open this year and landed up doing a great job. He considers taking a seat in the box for pursuing commentating, once he is winds up with his on-court job as he believes, when it comes to tennis he is tactically astute. “I can see myself maybe one day joining you guys, I think my knowledge about the game is very high,” Nick Kyrgios said. “I coach myself so I feel like tactically I know what peoples weaknesses are, and how they are off the court. I feel like it’s a different insight, I spend time with people in the locker room as well. Maybe I’ll make a little bit of coin off the court!”

This year the World Number 33, Nick Kyrgios has bounced back on the ATP circuit and lifted up the title in Acapulco. “Yeah for sure, I’ve dealt with a lot of things in the last couple of years, off the court, that have put me in a lot of dark places,” he said.“I think I’m responding well, I’m just trying to find myself every day, I definitely know I’ve got a lot of things to work on, I’ve got to work harder, I’ve got to work on my game. Maybe that involves getting a coach, maybe stop playing basketball at ridiculous hours, but I’m just having fun with it. At the end of the day, we’re just entertainers, trying to put on a good show. Today I did well, and hopefully, that can continue during the tournament.”

Later, Nick Kyrgios was interrogated upon the fairness of an underhand serve in tennis which he tried against Rafael Nadal in Acapulco and it gathered significant attention. He mentioned his insights for the same. “I think imitation is the best form of flattery. I think it’s a tactic for sure. He (Nadal) was standing so far from the baseline, I thought the underarm serve would break his rhythm a little bit. But of course, the social media took the other person’s side and I am alright with that,” Nick Kyrgios mentioned.
