Nick Kyrios and Jack Sock Defeat Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas at Laver Cup 2019

In the last match of Day Two of Laver Cup 2019, Nick Kyrios and Jack Sock from Team World defeated Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas from Team Europe 6-4, 3-6, [10-6] in the doubles match.

First Set: 

The first set of the heated doubles match began with Team World breaking Team Europe’s serve. Tsitsipas’ serve got broken as Team World lashed a forehand on the line. They further consolidated for a 2-0 lead in the opening set.

After saving themselves from a double break deficit, the Spaniard, Rafael Nadal made a stronghold at 2-1.

With Kygrios’ hefty serves bouncing on Team Europe’s court, followed by a clutch backhand from the Australian, the Team World lead by 4-2 in the opening set.

He Holds!

Nick Kyrgios displayed some casual tennis while Nadal was serving, and Team Europe produced an easy hold. A dominating service game from Jack Sock aided a smooth hold at 5-3.

While Team Europe held their serve at 5-4 in the first set, Kyrgios smacked ball on Rafa from the net.

A clean service game from Kyrgios while Team World for serving for the set and followed by their shot-making skills, Sock and Kyrgios wrapped up the set 6-4.

Second Set: 

Relentless forehands from Nick Kyrgios were produced while Tsitsipas was serving, but however, the Europeans held their serve at 2-1.

Team Europe broke Sock’s serve for a 3-1 lead as Nadal came up with magnificent volleys and Kyrgios made an error on the break point.

The European men lead by 4-1 but they seem to have communication issues between themselves.

Hilarious Rafa!

A flying backhand down the line from Tsitsipas gave Team Europe a 5-1 lead in the second set.

Later, Team World got one of the breaks back and European sealed the set 6-3.

Tiebreak

A winner from Kyrgios dropped jaws in the house, and the score was drawn to 1-1. With Nadal and Tsitsipas flawing here and there, gave a massive boost to Team World and they received five match points.

With Nadal saving two of them, the Team World sealed the second victory of the day by sealing the tiebreak at 10-6.

With this, their points settled to 7-5, with Team Europe in the lead. Nick Kyrgios and Jack Sock held a very important victory for their team and keep their hopes for the trophy alive.
