With Maxx Crosby returning to the Las Vegas Raiders after his trade to the Baltimore Ravens was rescinded, the franchise has received a warning about its star defensive end. Crosby was expected to join the Ravens after the AFC North powerhouse agreed to a massive package including two first-round picks. However, after the 28-year-old failed his physical, Baltimore rescinded its request. Now with Crosby back in Sin City, a two-time Super Bowl champion wants the Raiders to still trade him this offseason.

“No. I don’t think so, no, absolutely not,” Damien Woody said when asked if Crosby can go back to the Raiders on ESPN’s Get Up. “You know how much you like your ego is struck down, getting traded away to another team, and then all of a sudden it falls through because of your physical? Like, a team gave you away; they traded you away. They told you we don’t want you anymore, you’re not part of our future, and that, to me, is where it all falls.”

Damien Woody’s reaction comes after Maxx Crosby wanted to leave the Raiders after years of mediocrity in Las Vegas. During his tenure in the Silver and Black, Crosby made just one playoff appearance (in 2021), as the Raiders have had five losing seasons, five head coaches, and four general managers during that stretch.

These poor results were independent of the fact that Maxx Crosby performed like one of the best pass rushers across the league. Crosby, in his seven seasons as a Raider, recorded 278 solo tackles, 161 assists, 69.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and one interception while making five Pro Bowls.

Hence, the 2025 season ended up being the tipping point, as Las Vegas recorded just three wins, leading to the firing of first-year coach Pete Carroll in the offseason. Furthermore, the franchise also shut down Crosby for the final two games of the season, citing injury concerns, which wasn’t liked by the star pass rusher. Hence, both parties decided to part ways, with the Ravens emerging as suitors before the trade fell through.

Now with Crosby back, Damien Woody further justified his claim by explaining that the 28-year-old doesn’t fit Las Vegas’ new plan for the future.

“The Maxx Crosby timeline and the Raiders timeline are totally different,” Woody said. “This thing should be all about Fernando Mendoza. How were you going to build around the presumptive number one overall pick? And that means taking an asset like Maxx Crosby and deal them away. Whether it’s now, whether it’s before the draft during the summer, but at some point, they need to deal him away and focus on their future out there.”

After finishing at the bottom of the AFC West with a 3-14 record, the Raiders were handed the first overall pick in the 2026 draft. While this upcoming class of college players isn’t the best in recent years, quarterback Fernando Mendoza has emerged as the consensus number one pick after winning the Heisman Trophy and leading the Indiana Hoosiers to their first national championship after a 16-0 run.

While the Raiders are expected to select Fernando Mendoza as their first overall pick, the franchise is confronting a major decision with Maxx Crosby expressing his loyalty to the team that drafted him in 2019.

Maxx Crosby reinstates his loyalty to Las Vegas

All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby reiterated his commitment to the Las Vegas Raiders. Crosby broke his silence after his trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through by sharing a tweet. Crosby was drafted 106th in the third round by the Raiders and has since been a favorite among the supporters.

Hence, ahead of this new chapter with the franchise, Maxx Crosby shared an emotional message via X, just a day before Woody expressed his opinions.

“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote in a post on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S—.”

Subsequently, Crosby’s agent, C.J. LaBoy, issued another piece of good news for the Raiders nation, explaining that the 28-year-old is “on track” to return from his meniscus tear during the offseason program.

“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and, if anything, is ahead of schedule, according to his surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache,” LaBoy wrote. “Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.”
