After his short stint in Paris, tennis superstar Roger Federer has touched down in Halle. With the grass-court season around the corner, the Swiss ace has never shied away from revealing his fondness for this part of the season. The Wimbledon Championships is his prime target and he will prepare himself towards the best of his abilities. 

Yesterday, Federer was welcomed in Halle, a place where he has been the most successful player, winning the competition 10 times. He soon hit the practice courts and was seen having a knock with Japanese player Kei Nishikori.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner spoke on his first stint on the grass court this season and his appearance in Paris and stated, “I love playing on the Grass. It’s the traditional surface of Tennis. Practice on grass is always a pleasure. I practiced for the first time on Thursday. No movement yet, because I’m still recovering from Paris.”

Roger Federer played lengthy and strenuous matches in Paris

The Swiss star was part of matches that crossed the three-hour mark and the match before that too went into four sets, indicating the amount of time he has spent on court in the last week. Due to that, his body is still sore and is still recovering from appearances at Roland Garros. 

After close to 500 days, Roger Federer played his first Grand Slam match at the French Open 2021. He won the first three rounds but pulled out of the event before his fourth-round match due to a lack of physical fitness. Naturally, for a 39-year-old player, to play at the highest level after two knee surgeries could be risky.

The grass-court season for Federer will begin on Monday. There are a few big names that will be part of the tournament this season. It will be interesting to see these guys compete against each other and fight for the title in the German city.
