Venus and Serena Williams have dominated women’s tennis for over two decades. Although these supreme athletes lived under the same roof, they were aware of the fact that they would have to outdo each other for the ultimate prize. However, the fact they could keep the fighting on the court only highlighted their sportsmanship.

Recently, Andy Roddick compared the Manning Brothers to Venus and Serena Williams. Like the sisters, the brothers were top stars in American football. Eli Manning played for the New York Giants, whereas his brother Peyton Manning dominated the field with the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL.

Similar to the William sisters, the Mannings, too, left their rivalry on the ground and off the field, they were the opposite.

Taking note of this, Roddick stated, “It’s funny ’cause Venus and Serena get mentioned in the same breath, like the Manning Brothers. They were both number one. You kind of come up with these other equivalents. Like even when you’re in the other team, it’s one Manning playing against the defense of the other team. Their teams are playing each other but they are not fighting each other.”

The dominance of Venus and Serena Williams is unmatchable

Andy took note of the fact that these four athletes ruled the scenes and were dominant in their respective sport for more than a decade. In the case of the sisters, they have been doing the same for more than two decades.

The former US Open champion added, “So it’s a completely different dynamic how they pulled it off. It is amazing and there is no false representation of their relationship either. They’ve been close the entire way. It’s remarkable for the maturity they have, that was 1997, it was like 25 years ago.”

Coming to tennis, Venus and Serena did not manage to go deep into events. Injuries along the route were a blockage for these legends. They did not play the US Open too. It seems doubtful if they will compete in any event this season. However, we wish them the best of luck for the upcoming 2022 season. It will be interesting to see if Serena can win the 24th Grand Slam title.
