Serbian tennis Star Novak Djokovic is currently embroiled in a personal issue at home. His wife’s grandfather, Miloslav Radisavljevic was attacked last night in his house and kidnapped. Radisavljevic was then taken to a field several kilometers away and abandoned. According to a statement, the family is in complete shock over the incident.

Following the rescue, Radisavljevic, Novak and wife Jelena were unable to give statements to the media. However, they were grateful for the police and their swift reaction to the incident. Now, the is currently an investigation being conducted regarding the incident.

Earlier that day, Radisavljevic was reportedly discovered by electricians handcuffed to a power line. THe 85-year old was found in a corn field near Ljig, a small town in western Serbia.

The Mayor of Ljig, Dragan Lazarevic, confirmed the legitimacy of the incident and dubbed it an attempted kidnapping.

Later, it transpired that a robbery had also taken place. Fortunately, according to the police, the victim did not suffer any visible injuries.

The Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) confirmed that the police interrogated Radisavljevic. He informed them that two masked assailants broke into his home at around 3:00AM on Thursday. They relieved him of his wallet which held about RSD 26,000 (EUR 220), and a cell phone.

The victim also recounted that he was then abducted from the house. Following that, he was tied to the metal structure of a power line nearby. The MUP said that the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Valjevo is aware of the situation. The police are now intensively searching for the perpetrators in the hope of bringing swift justice.

Furthermore, the kidnappers had even sent Novak Djokovic a message demanding a ransom. They had demanded €2 million euros which is roughly equivalent to $2.3 million. After triumphing at Wimbledon for the 4th time, he earned $3.08 million.
