Novak Djokovic Overtakes Federer to Become Highest Paid Tennis Player

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic may have had to sit out of the US Open due to injury but he will be pleased to know that he has officially topped the list of highest paid tennis athletes. Djokovic has amassed a total of $109.8 million while the Swiss legend Roger Federer earns $107.8 million, Current world number 1 Rafael Nadal has earned $86.2 million. All the figures and statistics were revealed in a study by Business Insider.

Highlighting the disparity between the men’s game and the women’s game, Serena Williams is 4th on the all-time list with earnings of up to $84.4 million. Andy Murray is 5th with a total of $60.8 million. Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova are 7th and 8th in the list behind the legendary Pete Sampras. Venus earned $37.9 million and Sharapova earned $36.5 million. The winners of the US Open will have a shot at moving up the list as the prize money for the winner is $3.5 million for both Men’s and Women’s Singles. So in other words, Venus and Rafa have a realistic chance of increasing their earnings as they both are still in the running to win the US Open.
