Generally, the US Open starts on the last Monday of August and lasts a fortnight. The middle weekend coincides with the US Labor Day holiday, resulting in the immense popularity of the tournament across ages.

<span data-preserver-spaces="true">The United States Tennis Association (USTA) owns and started organizing the tournament in 1978. All proceeds from the US Open, be it from ticket sales, screening rights, or sponsorships, are used to further tennis in the country.</span>

<span data-preserver-spaces="true">The largest and one of the most famous tennis stadiums in the world, the Arthur Ashe Stadium, lies inside the Flushing Meadows complex with a seating capacity of 23,771 spectators. Across the venue, the tournament uses DecoTurf cushion acrylic hard courts.</span>

<span data-preserver-spaces="true">At the US Open, when the score of the final set reaches 6-6 (fifth set in ATP and third set in WTA), the seven-point tiebreaker comes into play.</span>

Scottish tennis star Andy Murray is widely regarded as the unofficial fourth member of the 'Big Four'. In 2016, Murray was at the peak of his powers, having won the Wimbledon title, his second Olympic gold medal at the Rio Olympics, and regaining the world number one ranking.

The following year saw him suffer as a result of multiple injuries that halted his progress when he was at his best. He missed many tournaments in 2017, ultimately falling outside the top-10 in the rankings.

Murray played hardly any matches in 2018 and eventually underwent hip surgery and further rehabilitation for the injury. As a result, he fell outside the top-800 in the rankings.

In early 2019, Murray announced he might not return to professional tennis due to numerous injury problems and that the Australian Open could be his final event. However, he underwent a second hip surgery midway through the year which worked wonders for him.

After the surgery and rehab, he made a winning return to the doubles domain of tennis at Queens' Club where he partnered with Feliciano Lopez.
