The Serbian pride of tennis, Novak Djokovic is uncertain regarding his presence at Japan Open 2019 in Tokyo. The event will be commencing on September 30, 2019.

I have been training without pain for two days and that makes me optimistic about the idea of fulfilling my calendar,” Djokovic said. “Between today and tomorrow, I will decide if I play Tokyo, but I feel safe in Shanghai.” The Serb has also begun with his training sessions on the hard-courts of Belgrade, Serbia.

Djokovic is recovering from his shoulder injury. The injury was pestering him from US Open 2019, also it led to his retirement from the Grand Slam event when he was competing in the fourth round against the former champion, Stan Wawrinka.

He was not happy about his retirement from the pre-quarterfinal match and was dispirited by that move. “It is very frustrating. Of course, it hurts that I had to retire. Some days the pain has been higher, some days with less intensity. Obviously I was taking different stuff to kill the pain instantly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t,” the Serb added.

The 32-year-old tennis adept, Djokovic will be present at Shanghai Rolex Masters, Paris Masters and will conclude the tennis season 2019 at ATP Finals in London.

Earlier, the Serb was knocked out in the fourth round of the US Open 2019, where he was the defending champion. The 16-time Grand Slam champion was forced to retire due to shoulder injury after trailing two sets and a break in the third set against Stan Wawrinka at the Flushing Meadows.

Last week, Novak Djokovic started his 269th week at No. 1 in the ATP Rankings and surpassed Jimmy Connors for fourth place in the all-time list of most weeks in the top spot. He is now tied with Ivan Lendl with 270 weeks on the No.1 position.
