The Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic amassed 26 consecutive Grand Slam matches at the French Open 2019, his major match winning streak was snapped by the new era contender, Dominic Thiem in the semifinals of Roland-Garros.

Presently, Novak Djokovic is preparing to defend his Wimbledon title and he is training in Serbia. Over there, the Serb spoke about the next generation of tennis and what will the shape of tennis be, once Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic hit the sack.

He revealed the players who are proficient in taking the sport to the next level and serve as better successors of men’s tennis. “Looking at the last couple of years and the results, Zverev is the leader of that generation,” the World Number one, Novak Djokovic said. “Tsitsipas is right behind him, he can prestige on the ATP list”.

“However, if we are not just a leader, there are a few more guys who show with their devotion, professionalism, and passion on the ground that they have clearly defined their goals and that we can look at them as future leaders of world tennis. They are Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Dominic Thiem, who is a little older than them,” Novak Djokovic continued.

Once mentioned by Vince Lombardi, “winning isn’t everything but making the effort to win is,” Novak Djokovic does believe that titles do not manifest one’s proficiency in tennis and tennis is more than just winning titles. For a sportsperson, discipline, compassion and other principles of life are mandatory and clearly, these qualities are visible in the new players.

“They are all very dedicated and above all, they are good guys, and this is what we need in today’s top sports. I do not look to success only through the prize of the trophy, but also the influence on younger generations, respect for tennis and colleagues, what kind of values you bear and what character you are. The guys I mentioned have the predispositions to be champions in every sense,” Novak Djokovic added.

Novak Djokovic is not engaging himself in the warm-up events of the grass-court major this week. He will directly fly to SW19, London for Wimbledon Championships 2019.
