World No.1, Novak Djokovic conquered the 16th Grand Slam title of his career after he defeated Roger Federer at the Wimbledon Championships 2019 finals, last month. Since then, there have been many predictions from the tennis pundits and tennis fans that the Serbian can break the Grand Slam record of all-time leader, Roger Federer.

Novak Djokovic is aiming for the 17th major title at the US Open 2019 and if he claims it, he will be less than Rafael Nadal’s 18 Grand Slam titles and three less than Federer’s 20. The 32-year-old is certainly motivated to break Roger Federer’s all-time Grand Slam record but knows that it is still ahead of him.

The defending champion said in an interview ahead of the US Open 2019, “I’m aware of it, of course. I mean, I’m part of this world. Of course, I can’t completely switch off and eliminate what people are talking about. And it’s flattering, obviously.”

Novak Djokovic has won four of the past five major singles titles. He also has won 15 Grand Slam trophies in the past decade. However, the Serb feels that his goal of achieving the most number of major titles is still very far away.

He continued, “But at the same time, it’s still a very long way ahead of me. It does also put a certain level of responsibility to me as well because I’m aiming to do that. You know, it’s definitely one of my ambitions and goals.”

The 32-year-old explained that things were different when he was young but he still is motivated to win more major titles in his career.
