Novak Djokovic – “Stefanos Tsitsipas  is One of The Best Players in The World”

World Number two tennis player, Novak Djokovic holds high esteem for the Greek lad, Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Serb considers the 21-year-old to be an ‘established’ tennis player. Also, the Greek sensation is a versatile tennis athlete who efficiently dwells on all the surfaces of the sport.

“Obviously he’s one of the best players in the world. He’s already an established, player. You know he’s an all-around player, plays very well on all surfaces. He has great working ethics, very dedicated. And, you know, let the better player win,” said Novak Djokovic.

Before Tsitsipas’ defeat in Paris, he held a positive head-to-head record against the machine, Djokovic and after his 58-minute loss in Bercy their record is now settled at 2-2.

This year, Tsitsipas dethroned the two-time defending champion at Australian Open, Roger Federer on the Rod Laver Arena, followed by that eminence, he defeated Rafael Nadal on Madrid’s clay and then, later in the month of October, he dethroned the defending champion, Djokovic at the Chinese Masters. In 2019, he reached the semifinals of the Melbourne major, finals of the Spanish Masters and won titles in Marseille and Estoril. 

Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic in the finals of the Madrid Masters and later, in the Shanghai, after a sluggish start, the Greek lad pulled off his second victory against Djokovic and progressed to seal his ATP World Tour Finals berth.

“We played a couple of times this year, one on clay in Madrid finals and I lost to him in Shanghai. I was set up and close the second set. I couldn’t finish it off, and the match was turned around. I think I lost four, five games in a row, end of second, beginning of third, and that was enough for him to hold his serve,” Djokovic explained his loss at Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019.

At ATP World Tour Finals 2019, the second seed, Novak Djokovic and sixth seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas are placed in two different groups.
