World No. 1, Novak Djokovic pays tribute to his arch rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as he credits them for driving up each other’s standards.

In a post-match interview after his fourth-round victory at the Wimbledon Championships 2019, Novak Djokovic restated that he is thankful to be playing with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same era.

“I mean, it’s for me definitely an honor and pleasure to be part of the same era with these two guys, without a doubt,” Novak Djokovic said.

The 15-time Grand Slam champion further added that his rivalry with Nadal and Federer has made him what he is. He continued, “I’ve said this a million of times before, that I am the player that I am today because of these guys, mostly because of the rivalries I have with two of them.”

The ‘Big 3’ have conquered 53 Grand Slam titles between them and once again looks to dominate the Wimbledon Championships 2019 as the trio cruised passed through their opening rounds and reached the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic further added their supremacy transcends the game. “I think it can only bring positive message and value to our sport, the fact that we’re still playing, the fact we’re still making the history of the game. It does transcend, I feel like, and hopefully does,” he said.

The Serb them compared their dominance with that of Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Serena Williams who are still dominating their respective sport for so many years.

He said, “It’s like Tom Brady, for example, who at his age is still playing on the top level, winning rings and everything. LeBron James, Serena.”

The 32-year-old concluded that he is obliged to be part of something that lifts the sport up. He added, “It’s wonderful to be part of something that transcends the sport itself. That also carries a lot of, I think, responsibility. You try to carry yourself in the right manner.”
