Novak Djokovic avenged his Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 quarterfinal defeat to Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday, defeating the next-generation star in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to reach the semifinals for the second consecutive time at the Rolex Paris Masters 2019.

Stefanos Tsitsipas was looking sharp from the very first point of the match as he troubled Novak Djokovic in his opening service game of the match. However, the Greek hit two double faults in a row to Djokovic the break. The Serb went onto win 13 of the last 16 points to get a double break.

It was one-way traffic after 18 minutes of play on the side of Serbian as he went a 5-0 lead in the opening set of the first quarterfinals of the Rolex Paris Masters 2019. The 21-year-old saved three break points and set points and saved himself from getting bageled in the next game. However, it was the World No.1, who conquered the first set 6-1 in just 28 minutes.

Set two

Stefanos Tsitsipas got a time violation warning from the chair umpire while he was serving to save the breakpoint at 15-40, 1-all in the second set. It was the forehand that was letting Tsitsipas down as hit 7th forehand unforced error to give the break to Novak Djokovic, who gave a big reaction after breaking Tsitsipas for the third time in the match.

Novak Djokovic broke Tsitsipas again and got a 4-0 lead in a replication of the opening set. The defending runner-up went on to serve out the match, winning the set 6-2 in half an hour. Djokovic did not face single break point on his serve in an hour of play before crushing the next-gen star to reach the last four.

He will next face Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated  Christian Garin in the first quarterfinals at Paris Bercy on Saturday.
