India registered another convincing win over New Zealand by 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I at the Eden Park Auckland in the five-match series. While it was an easy win for India, captain Virat Kohli had a bad day at the office, especially in the field. He missed an easy catch at the end of New Zealand’s innings.
The incident took place in the 18th over when Jasprit Bumrah bowled Ross Taylor a well-judged slower one. The experienced Kiwi batsman hit his famous cross-batted shot but failed to connect properly. Kohli, who stood at long-on, positioned himself under the ball but with many surprises, he failed to hold that.
At first, Bumrah didn’t believe his eyes but soon started laughing and so did Kohli. However, New Zealand put up 132 runs in their 20 overs.

On the other hand, KL Rahul, who had scored 56 in the first T20I at the same venue, remained unbeaten on 57 in the second. The hero of the first game, Shreyas Iyer, also contributed 44 runs off 33 balls with three sixes and a four. Although India lost two early wickets – Rohit Sharma (8) and Virat Kohli (11), courtesy Tim Southee (2/20).
Spinners Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner then bowled some economical spells to keep their hopes alive as India were 60/2 after 10 overs. However, it was the 15th over that certainly changed the game. Rahul opened his arms off Hamish Bennett for 16 runs as New Zealand failed two missed run-out opportunities, the second of that came in the last ball of the over.
