First time I met him was BBC Sports Personality here and then……….just by chance I was in Japan and he was racing and I was doing some photoshoot. And when I was there, I sent him like a direct message on Instagram,” said Farah.

Things took an interesting turn, and Hamilton responded, quickly arranging tickets for Mo Farah as well.

And I was like listen I’m in Japan. You’re here? And he told ‘yeah’. I said ‘Can I get some tickets to come to watch you?’ And he said ‘yeah, yeah, of course!’ and then he bought me tickets. Ever since I’m like ‘where’s he? Where’s he? Where’s he?” he added.

Both of the stars never failed to convey the respect they have for each other, be it after a victory or upon bumping into each other outside of the track.

Sir Mo Farah, a well-deserved honor

In the same episode, Richie was curious to know what the letters assigned to their name meant. Both  Mo Farah and Lewis Hamilton have been knighted by the British Royal as part of the Queen’s New Year Honors list. This is the reason they are also addressed as “Sir”.

In reply, Farah disclosed that nothing is lying under the letters given to them. Instead, it’s just a sign of their long-time hard work and achievements.

I mean it’s like letters…..means nothing you know. It’s just a title but being recognized for your hard work and what we both have achieved for our career,” said the legend.

“And it’s nice to have that but it doesn’t mean anything really, you know, it’s just a title people will respect you different and see you as different,” he continued.
