Has Tiger Woods Played Golf at the Olympics and Won a Medal for Team USA?

Tiger Woods is probably the greatest golfer of all time. But has he ever competed at the Olympics? And how many medals has he won? Let us find out. 

Meanwhile, the men’s golf competition is currently underway at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. And the event is heading into the ultimate stage with around 15 players in contention for a podium finish. 

Has Tiger Woods played the Olympics?

Tiger Woods, sadly, has never played in the Olympics in his career so far. And the main reason for it is that golf was not an Olympic sport until 2016. In fact, it has been out of the summer Olympics for 112 years, however; golf was finally included at the Rio Olympics in 2016. But unfortunately, Tiger couldn’t participate that year.  

Moreover, it is somehow ironic, as Tiger Woods has certainly played a significant role in golf’s return to the Olympics about five years ago due to his worldwide recognition.

Tokyo is the fourth Olympic Games to include golf. It was an Olympic sport in Paris in 1900 and Saint Louis in 1904. And since Tiger hasn’t played in the Olympics yet, he has never won a gold medal either. Moreover, the 45-year-old is currently recovering from a horrific single-car crash that induced multiple leg injuries. 

Prominent names in contention at the Tokyo Olympics 2020

Even though Tiger Woods isn’t playing at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, there are quite a few prominent names who are representing their countries in the prestigious tournament. Among them are Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood. These are the prominent names who are in contention for a podium finish.

The Kasumigaseki Country Club, the venue for the golfing event, has played phenomenally so far. The fairways, greens, rough positioning of the bunkers, everything has been spot on in this course. Even though the weather did cause a few problems in the first two rounds, they have maintained and looked after the course brilliantly.  D
