Last year, Simone Biles made history with a phenomenal Paris Olympics run, capturing three golds and one silver, a performance for the ages. Fans erupted, and doubters were left speechless as Biles delivered her trademark response to the skepticism that followed the Tokyo Olympics saga. Since then, however, the gymnastics queen has skipped every major event this season, including the Xfinity 2025, opting instead for beautiful vacations. And now comes another twist: Biles has her eyes on another sport.
With 11 Olympic medals, including 7 golds, Biles is the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history. Her athleticism is second to none. However, even she knows when it’s the best time to let go. That doesn’t mean she will leave sports altogether. How about ice skating, then?
The man behind Olympics.com content spilled the beans! While there’s no official word from Biles yet, InsideMagazine fueled the buzz with an Instagram post captioned, “Could we see Simone Biles at the 2030 Winter Olympics?! Biles said she plans to give ice skating a try – as a hobby! But with that athletic talent and champion mindset, I mean, you never know! Biles has been taking horseback riding lessons as of late and has her eyes on ice skating next.”

Earlier this year, during a conversation with the media, the Olympian was asked whether she would continue competing at the highest level, considering the fact that she has already achieved so much in her career. She responded, “I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again, and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”

She further added, “What sacrifices would be made if I go back now?… When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?” But now, amid all these retirement talks, probably this is the update we needed!

Now, as one gymnastics enthusiast CCed Scott Bregman in one of their X posts, “Simone Biles just said she’s starting ice skating lessons. I can’t wait til she wins in 2030,” we cannot be any happier if this comes to reality! But while the Winter Olympics seem like speculation, one thing is certain: Simone Biles might have made the biggest decision of her career.
Simone Biles’ 2028 Olympic participation looms in darkness
Las Vegas 2028 is on the horizon, and athletes are grinding hard for their shot at the trials. But Simone Biles is currently on a break from competition and admits she’s uncertain about making a comeback. At 28, Biles says her priorities have shifted, and she’s fully aware of the toll the sport takes, especially at an age when most gymnasts have already hung up their leotards.

While having a conversation with French sports daily L’Equipe, she stated, “I’m really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband [NFL player Jonathan Owens], go support him at his games, live my life as a woman. I’ve accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, it would really have to excite me. A lot of people think it’s just a one-year commitment, but it truly is the four years leading up to the Olympics. It’s in LA, it’s back in the States, which is so exciting. But if I’m going to compete again, I’m not so sure.”
The 28-year-old is certain that her body might not allow her to compete at the highest level for much longer. She even confirmed feeling some jolts during the Paris Olympics, and believes it’s only a matter of time before she injures herself. And as much as we would love to experience Biles on the floor again, probably it’s for the best to let go when you are at peak, when you are already the GOAT!
