It looks like injuries and illnesses might blow up the LSU Gymnastics’ hopes of defending their title. The No. 2 LSU Tigers faced the dominant top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners today. LSU has been showing the same brilliance that earned them the National Championship last year in April. There have been some standout performances from them in the season, including the remarkable 198.000 score in their home meet against the University of Missouri on January 31st. All things considered, we cannot deny the injuries that the team has been facing currently. And there has been another addition to the list today!

The long list of injured players seems to be getting bigger for LSU, as after KJ Johnson, Konnor McClain, and Haleigh Bryant, another name seems to have been added to the list. It’s Chase Brock this time! It has been reported by All Things Gymnastic Podcast on their social media handle “X” that “Chase Brock just went down on the floor while warming up.” She was later seen on crutches with a boot on her right leg.

Most probably due to her fall, senior Chase Brock wasn’t able to perform on any of the apparatus. Brock is a four-year senior from Atalanta, and she returned for her final season of eligibility for LSU gymnastics. LSU head coach Jay Clark carried Brock to the medical staff as she was seen crying after the injury. “We won’t know for sure, but I don’t think it looks good. I’ve been doing this a long time. That didn’t look good,” Clark said, as reported by LSU Reveille.

injuries may prove to be a significant setback in their quest to win back-to-back national titles. The absence of key athletes not being able to perform in all routines at full strength could challenge LSU’s ability to maintain its dominance in the upcoming games and powerhouses like Oklahoma. However, the Tigers have had a strong start to the season, and they very well know how to overcome adversities. Even with injuries, LSU Gymnastics was able to beat No. 1 Oklahoma at PMAC.

LSU Gymnastics beats No. 1 Oklahoma At PMAC

In a battle between the top teams in the nation, the No. 2 LSU Gymnastics took down No. 1 Oklahoma on Friday night. Historically, LSU has suffered against Oklahoma, having an 11-25 overall record and a 2-3 record at home. Their last meeting in the week at the Sprouts Collegiate Quad saw Oklahoma win. But this time it was LSU Gymnastics that upset the country’s top team on Friday, in proper coming-from-behind fashion. The No. 2 Tigers used a near-perfect final rotation on the floor to power past No. 1 Oklahoma 198.050-197.675 in front of the third-largest crowd (13,386) in PMAC history.

Kailin Chio’s all-around score of 39.725 finished ahead of all four Sooners, including a crucial 9.950 on the floor. Two Sooners faced major deductions on the balance beam, forcing them to count a 9.775 against three LSU beam scores above 9.9. LSU started the night on vault with Chio, Haleigh Bryant, and Kaliya Lincoln, all scoring 9.95. All five Tigers were able to register a score above 9.8.

With this monumental win, LSU proved its ability to compete at the highest level and dethrone the nation’s top-ranked team. The victory not only reinforces their championship aspiration but also solidifies their dominance at home. Up next for LSU is a trip to face Michigan on 23rd February. As they move forward, LSU will aim to continue this momentum and continue their pursuit of the NCAA title despite the injuries.
