“I would look at myself in the mirror and call myself ugly almost every day.” This is the story Jordan Chiles would recall from a hurtful past that she lived. But the Olympic gold medalist chose to rewrite the books for herself. As she entered the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, she couldn’t help but embrace her newfound confidence. This is exactly what we saw at the 2025 American Music Awards this week as well– Jordan looking confident, beautiful, and happy! And how could Mumma Chiles have missed such an opportunity to send out words of love for her daughter?

As the AMAs took place last evening on May 27, gymnastics star Jordan Chiles and actor Wayne Brady walked up the stage to announce the award for the Favorite Female Latin Artist. As they spoke for the five nominees, Jordan’s mom, Gina Chiles, could not help but be proud of her daughter. She tagged the video posted by the AMAs and penned a heartfelt message for her daughter.

“I’M SO PROUD!!! You did so good and look so beautiful!!” Gina wrote on the video. And it was evident that the mom was feeling euphoric for her champion. In the video as the two present the award Brady start with, “I am so happy to stand at the American Music Awards with this gold medal winning American and say that tonight’s show hosted by Jennifer Lopez and featuring Gloria Estefan’s return to the AMA stage reflects the power of great female artists in Latin music.” 

Chiles joined in with her words, saying, “That’s right and so does this next Latin music category I’m honored to present with Wayne. Here are five outstanding women in music today who all deserve a gold medal. Let’s take a look.”  Speaking of the video, X is not the only place where Gina let her love show. She also took to Instagram to share the video and praise her child.” So proud of you Chick! You did so so so good! AND looked gorgeous!! @jordanchiles” read the Instagram story of Mumma Chiles.

Becky G was honored with the award for Favorite Female Latin Artist. At the award, Jordan Chiles had donned a rich purple tone. The top featured long sleeves, a high neckline, and strong, structured shoulders, and it was cropped just below her chest, revealing her midriff– a long-sleeve cropped top. She paired it with a high-rise skirt of the same color. This is not the only time she stunned the audience with her dress.

Jordan was not only a presenter, but she was also one of those who were to walk the purple carpet at the 2025 American Music Awards. The Olympic gold medalist walked the purple carpet in Fontainebleau Las Vegas, donning a Marine Serre Men’s Spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. She arrived at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas in a white corset dress. It was strapless, with a curve-hugging bodice and an oval cutout detail at the chest. The voluminous lace mermaid skirt was the cherry on top. This year has been full of accolades for her.

A time of accolades outside gymnastics for Jordan Chiles

Jordan Chiles has significantly expanded her influence beyond gymnastics in 2024 and early 2025. In February 2025, she was honored as one of TIME’s Women of the Year, alongside A’ja Wilson and Nicole Kidman, recognizing her impact on and off the mat. Later, in March 2025, she released her memoir, I’m That Girl: Living the Power of My Dreams, offering a look into her journey and challenges. Before that, she made a notable debut during New York Fashion Week in September 2024, walking the runway for Kim Shui’s Spring 2025 ready-to-wear show.

She closed the show in a silver and blue floral-print leotard-style outfit. Talking of fashion, Chiles has also been featured in the 2025 issue of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, where she posed in Boca Raton, Florida, alongside other prominent athletes like Gabby Thomas and many more. At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, she co-presented the Best Collaboration award with Flavor Flav, who honored her with a symbolic bronze clock necklace, acknowledging the controversy surrounding her stripped Olympic bronze medal.

Additionally, in November 2024, she was recognized as a leader in sports at the Ebony Magazine Power 100 Gala. In December 2024, Jordan delivered the keynote address at TheWrap’s 2024 Power Women Summit in Beverly Hills. She shared insights into her journey and experiences, marking a significant step in her public speaking endeavors.
