Love is in the air—on the track, in the gym, and everywhere on the Gram! Earlier this week, Simone Biles smiled as she unwrapped a bouquet from her husband, Jonathan Owens. Today? Sha’Carri Richardson did the same, holding up a fresh set of flowers from her partner, Christian Coleman. And Jordan Chiles? She wasn’t left out—though her gift didn’t come from a particular someone special. So who did it come from?

UCLA is turning Valentine’s Day into something bigger. Love? Obviously! But is it just about love? Obviously not! It’s also Strength, Pride, and Breaking Barriers! And right in the middle of all of this is Jordan Chiles. And she has received a special tribute not from her better half but from the sports community at large. Chiles, who has been in the spotlight for her perfect 10s, Nike ad for the Super Bowl, and, let’s just say it, just for being herself, has received a heartfelt wish on V-Day!

The official Instagram page of ‘Sportsish’ earlier today shared a post that read,Dear Jordan, Just a reminder that you are “That Girl.” From your performance at the Olympics last summer, to your Nike commercial during the Super Bowl, to your perfect tens in recent competitions, we couldn’t be prouder of how you carry yourself on and off the mat. You’re killing it in gymnastics and in life, and it feels like you’re just getting started.” And honestly, where’s the lie?

Don’t believe it? Let’s talk about Paris 2024, where Chiles didn’t just show up, but she showed out! Competing in all four events during qualifications, she ranked fourth overall, but the two-per-country rule kept her out of the all-around final. Still, she delivered in the team final, helping Team USA secure their fourth Olympic gold in history!
And the floor? Oh, the drama! She initially won bronze, only to have it stripped away after an appeal. But through it all, Chiles handled it like a champ. Because medals come and go, but greatness? That sticks forever!

Then we have Jordan Chiles in the NCAA, taking her performance to the next level. Let’s put a question first! Do you think perfect 10s come easy at the NCAA? Think again! This season, the judging has been as strict as ever, with barely a handful of gymnasts breaking through that elusive ceiling. And yet, Chiles? She’s done it not once but TWICE!

Her first 10? A flawless uneven bars routine against Maryland that left even the toughest critics nodding in approval. And then, she did it again, but this time on the floor, dazzling the crowd against Michigan State. But it’s not just about the scores. Chiles is leading UCLA’s charge to the top, pushing the Bruins to their highest team total in years!

Beyond the college circuit, Chiles isn’t leaving any chance to shine! Chiles starred in Nike’s 2025 Super Bowl ad alongside Caitlin Clark, Sha’Carri Richardson, and A’ja Wilson. In Nike’s electrifying So Win ad, set to Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love,” Chiles stood tall during the Nike press release and said, “You don’t wait for attention, you take it. You put in the work; you stay ready; and, when the moment comes, you own it.” And honestly, Jordan is taking all the attention! And now her team, UCLA, Bruins is also taking all the attention.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jordan Chiles the new face of gymnastics, or is she just getting started?

UCLA V-Day meet is not just about gymnastics

Chiles isn’t the only Bruin at the center of this week’s celebrations. As UCLA (7-2, 4-0 Big Ten) gymnastics gears up for its annual Pride Meet when they take on No. 25 Penn State (8-2, 3-1), fresh off a season-high 197.950 against Washington. And the night is set to be bigger than rankings or records! But why, so?

The energy inside Pauley Pavilion would be more than routines and scores. It would be about inclusivity, empowerment, and the ever-growing intersection between sport and self-expression. “We’re going to be able to really lean into and promote inclusivity but also celebrate love and celebrate each other,” head coach Janelle McDonald said. “Having it on Valentine’s Day makes it even more special.”

Pauley Pavilion’s inclusive tribute will also be a thrilling one! As Bruins have been resurgent lately and were on full display in Seattle when they posted a season-high 49.625 on beam, an event that had challenged them just a week prior. With such an amazing performance, the confidence of teammates also seems to be at an all-time high. Graduate Brookly Moors said, “We’re finding our groove again on beam…. We’ve been working quite hard, and I think the results are showing that,” as reported by Daily Bruin.
