When was the last time we saw Jordan Chiles put on the red, white, and blue leotard for the USA? It has been almost a year since the UCLA gymnast participated in any elite gymnastics meet since the Paris Olympics. Chiles’ Paris feat is no secret to anyone. She helped the U.S. women’s gymnastics team secure gold in the team final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She originally earned bronze in the individual floor final after a successful scoring appeal, only to have it revoked when CAS ruled the appeal was filed 4 seconds late, resulting in Romania’s Ana Barbosu being awarded the medal. Though she has refused to return the bronze that was awarded to her, it’s safe to say Jordan’s last elite gymnastics meet did give her some pain. But the struggle does not end there…
Inside Gymnastics Magazine took to their official Instagram handle to announce that Jordan’s name was missing from the list of athletes participating in the US Classic. Uploading a snapshot of the UCLA star from her floor routine, they wrote over it, “Jordan Chiles not currently registered for U.S. Classic“. Further explaining it in the caption, they wrote, “🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️ After wrapping a stellar NCAA season in April, that included a victory on an Uneven Bars at the NCAA Championships, many wondered if we may see Jordan Chiles in Elite action this summer.” Chiles also clinched her second NCAA uneven bars title at the 2025 championships in Fort Worth, scoring a near-perfect 9.975 to lead UCLA into the national finals.
They continued, “She is not currently registered for July’s US Classic, but as an Olympic team member, she is automatically qualified to compete at the 2025 Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships, if she so chooses. Do you think we’ll see her compete Elite this year before returning to NCAA competition for UCLA?” The U.S. Classic is one of the premier national-level elite gymnastics competitions in the United States that serves as the final qualifier for the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, the annual national championships, something Jordan Chiles‘ Olympian status automatically gets her.

But here’s the twist as well. Inside Gymnastics also posted a video of Jordan practising gymnastics at home, and they teased a caption, “🔥🔥🔥Jordan Chiles is showing fans a double-double off of bars! Do you think this is Chiles teasing an elite comeback or just some fun in the gym?” But missing on US classic would mean a third exit from the elite gymnastics competition this year.
Jordan Chiles’ gymnastics exit continues while life outside gets busier
In an Instagram post made on May 22, a part of Jordan Chiles’ caption read, “Gymnastics will always be a part of my story. It’s pushed me, challenged me, and helped me reach heights I once thought were impossible. But being an athlete isn’t all I am. I’m also a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a student, a business owner, a friend — and someone learning every day how to care for her mental health just as much as her physical strength.” Perhaps that is what is reflected in her decisions.

She opted out of the 2025 Winter Cup, joining other Paris Olympians like Simone Biles in focusing her energy on UCLA and NCAA commitments instead of elite-related events. She was also left off the U.S. team for the 2025 Pan American Championships in May/June, as rising stars such as Hezly Rivera, Jayla Hang, and Gabrielle Hardie were selected for the international roster, a clear signal of Team USA building new talent. Beyond elite gymnastics, Chiles is thriving in her role at UCLA, having delivered top-tier routines, led the Bruins with emotional leadership, and earned multiple perfect 10s on bars and floor.
