“I think it’s crazy how people can make a situation so big and out of proportion when all I was doing was following the rules,” wrote Jordan Chiles after being branded a ‘mean girl’ – all because the production house asked her to vacate the stage and let the professional dancers capture the frame. But when she obliged, the audience saw that as a bad move, unaware of the reason. She has now come forth to address the drama surrounding the incident.

During her appearance on House of Maher, the Olympic gold medalist pulled back the curtains on the actual issue. Clapping back at the negative comments on the internet, she said, “I feel like, you know, at the end of the day, I’m the one who’s on the ballroom floor, and I’m the one who has to go through a lot of different things.” Her words echoed the resilience that earned her Olympic medals and a reputation for thriving under pressure. After all, as an athlete, she is headstrong against the negativity that surrounds her success and fame. 

Chiles went on to clarify the misunderstanding surrounding her and Ezra’s on-camera interaction. She asserted, “My life is my life! Sorry that you know there was a situation that was happening. They were announcing the pros right after. Like, I can’t control what production is doing.” Jordan Chiles and her partner, Sosa, have a great connection. Chiles’ alleged walkout was even a topic of banter, filled with jokes and laughter. But the words of keyboard warriors did its damage to Chiles nevertheless. 

Chiles admitted, “All those things that were happening, yes, did it get to me? 100%. That’s I posted what I posted. That’s why you probably saw it for 0.2 seconds and then it was gone.” But she insisted that it’s not too easy to get under her skin like it seems. Right now, she is strengthening her stance at DWTS, and the commenters will soon witness her resilience.

Chiles was already unhappy with how an insignificant incident blew up in massive proportions. Chiles explained that the now-debated moment, where she appeared to walk away abruptly as scores were being announced, had nothing to do with attitude. She was just following production instructions. “When they announced the tour for the pros, I was told by production that I needed to move because I couldn’t be in the shot,” she clarified.

Needless to say, her frustration was justifiable. Her life is already pretty hectic, and seeing such criticism on social media didn’t sit right with Jordan Chiles. Meanwhile, many others assumed her actions hinted at some strain with Sosa. Chiles quickly snubbed that train of thought too. She confessed, “When me and Ezra got saved… me laughing and saying ‘put me down’ was not rude. Me and [Ezra Sosa’s] relationship is perfectly fine.”
