Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles poured her heart into Dancing with the Stars’ Dedication Night, delivering an emotional Viennese Waltz with partner Ezra Sosa that celebrated her bond with her father. Yes, Timothy Chiles was also present on the stage, dancing with his daughter and earning hearts with the performance. However, when the scores were revealed, fans were left furious, flooding social media with their outrage and disappointment.

The judges were full of praise for Jordan Chiles’ emotional Viennese Waltz. Carrie Ann Inaba applauded the “respect and love” Timothy Chiles showed by doing “pretty much the whole dance” with her. Meanwhile, Derek Hough admitted it made him excited to share a similar moment with his own child. Kym Johnson, adding to the emotions, called it the epitome of a father-daughter dance. And Bruno Tonioli said he’s “so proud” of Jordan for getting “better and better” each week.

When DWTS shared a visual of Chiles’ performance on X with a caption that read, “That Viennese Waltz put the color in our world! What a radiant performance from Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa. 🙌 #DedicationNight #DWTS,” things got a bit messy. 

The judges scored her 32 out of 40 in week 5. Of course, it was enough to push her to the next stage of the reality show. But it wasn’t enough to please Chiles’ fanbase.

Fans stand in support of Jordan Chiles as she gets lowballed at DWTS week 5

Fans were simply frustrated with the judges’ scorecards. Her stance with her father as they danced to ‘Daughters’ by John Mayer, with the Viennese Waltz sewn in her choreography, was strong enough to move the fanbase. One fan claimed, “And yet they robbed her.” Another fan added, “They deserved better scores.” It was definitely a better performance than her quickstep to ‘Special Spice’, which got her 24 out of 30. 

All the judges unanimously scored her an 8 out of 10. Meanwhile, the fans had a different opinion. One of them commented, “This deserved a 9.” Another fan added, “A 32/40 and we’re all crying 🥺.”

The disappointment ran deep in the fans’ minds, even though the father-daughter duo were pretty proud of their performance. One more fan added, “They keep playing in her face, and it’s getting on my nerves.”

Meanwhile, a few fans claimed that week 5 was the worst episode of Dancing with the Stars. The reason? It was a dance where Chiles was scored less than what she apparently deserved, despite having to dance with her father for the majority of the time instead of Sosa, who is her partner.

A fan weighed in on this and wrote, “Worst episode of #DWTS that I’ve ever seen. Never been more checked out as nearly every routine has been hijacked by adding random humans who tanked the performance. Ezra specifically should be fired for essentially taking the night off. Jordan Chiles deserved better.”
