Jordan Chiles has done it again. The Olympic star, already a sensation on the mats, just added another feather to her cap as Judge Bruno Tonioli crowned her “dance royalty” on week four of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Teaming up with pro dancer Ezra Sosa, Chiles dazzled her way to one of the night’s highest scores in what is a remarkable feat considering the whirlwind of drama she recently found herself in. After facing intense fan criticism, the gymnast broke her silence with a long message on Instagram, and just like that, the tides have turned.

The drama fomented when Chiles reportedly walked off the stage while officials were tallying the scores, just as the announcement for the DWTS 2026 tour was being made. Her actions drew sharp criticism from fans, who interpreted her leaving as a lack of respect. In response to the backlash, the Olympic champion took to her Instagram Stories to clarify her side of the story: “I think it’s crazy how people can make a situation so big and out of proportion when all I was doing was following rules,” she began.
Jordan Chiles continued by providing clarity on what actually happened, emphasizing that she couldn’t let a false narrative about her persist in the public sphere when her life was already so busy and hectic.

“When they announced the tour for the pros, I was told by production that I needed to move because I couldn’t be in the shot so that is why I may have looked like that because it was a fast move,” she wrote. What sparked the controversy? Many fans felt it was insensitive and inconsiderate of her to walk away from the stage while the judges were present. Others speculated that she was struggling with her dance partner, Ezra Sosa, which prompted her actions. In reality, however, the truth was far different.

In the second part of her story, the gymnast revealed that there were no conflicts with her dance partner; in fact, he made her feel completely at ease. “When Ezra and I got saved, idk why you guys think me laughing and saying put me down was rude, and that all of a sudden I am a mean girl. My and [Ezra Sosa] relationship is perfectly fine. We laugh, joke and I’m pretty sure you can tell our connection is pretty good through our social media.”
By the end of week four, the duo had scored an impressive 24/30 in a Disney themed challenge, keeping them safe, and now, with the judges’ scores in their favor, she has emerged victorious alongside Sosa. Well, as Jordan Chiles revealed the actual story, the fans who once turned against her have come forward to support her.

Fans come in support of Jordan Chiles as she reveals the true story behind her actions
Starting off, one social media user came to Jordan Chiles’ defense, expressing their frustration at those criticizing her, “I’m so mad and upset for her that she even has to address these things.” On one hand, Chiles faced the ire of some fans, but on the other, the judges were in awe of her performance. “Wicked, bright, vivacious, and yet always elegant,” praised Judge Bruno Tonioli.
One fan wrote, “I definitely wouldn’t be mad if she won, I love her & I love Ezra,” and their support seemed to have worked as the duo clinched the victory. Judge Derek Hough added, “I hope you feel like a princess because you looked absolutely beautiful out there. It was crisp, it was completely charming. The footwork was so sharp. You held the frame very well. Great job.”

Furthermore, another fan called out those spreading false narratives, “It’s really a shame how people always have to assume the worst and make fake scenarios of people.” Another added bluntly, “Y’all irritating asf man.” Finally, one more fan fired back at the critics, “Leave Jordan Chiles the f–k alone. She’s far more talented and a much better person than anyone who is attacking her.”
It was a classic case of social media running wild with a narrative without seeing the full picture. The third judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, was clearly impressed, praising Jordan Chiles for performing with genuine liveliness and heartfelt sincerity, “When you dance it’s fun, it’s animated, but it’s also authentic.” With her explanation, everything is much clearer now, so what are your thoughts?
