On June 16, Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes were back where it all began—Charles Schwab Field in Omaha—for the LSU Tigers vs. UCLA Bruins Men’s College World Series showdown. With Skenes playing a pivotal role in LSU’s title run just two years ago, the stage was set for a sentimental full-circle moment for the former Tigers turned power couple. But Mother Nature had other plans. Rain washed away the nostalgia, cutting the night short and leaving their “perfect throwback” memory on pause. But…

Fast forward three days to June 19, and Olivia was back in full cheerleader mode—but this time, it was all business. In Detroit’s Comerica Park, the Pittsburgh Pirates faced a daunting doubleheader against the Tigers. After a humbling 2-9 loss in the first game, the pressure was on as Paul Skenes took the mound in the second. Olivia, ever the supportive partner, was watching closely—and sharing the moment with her fans. Meanwhile, something came up.

Mid-game, Dunne posted a snapshot to her Instagram Story: Skenes on the mound, but the real show-stealer? The Detroit Tigers mascot, cheekily holding up a banner from behind the fence reading, “SUP LIVVY DUNNE ,” with read heart marks all over it. However, Livvy didn’t let it slide. With the sharp wit fans adore, she clapped back in her caption: “Sorry… but not my type of tigers,” tagging the Detroit Tigers for good measure. Message received. LSU Tigers forever—and Paul Skenes is first in line. However, on the field, the game remained equally eventful.

In the opening game of the doubleheader, Tigers’ ace Tarik Skubal kept the Pirates in check, giving them little room to breathe—resulting in a tough loss for Pittsburgh. But in the second game, the Pirates came out swinging, building early momentum and taking a lead on the scoreboard. Paul Skenes pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and issuing five walks. The game was tied at 4 when weather once again interfered, bringing things to a halt. Just before the delay, the Tigers seemed to be turning the tide, clawing their way back into control.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the matchup became another victim of unpredictable weather. As for how it will all play out—that remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: Olivia Dunne is staying true to her word, showing up and supporting Paul just as she promised.

“I’ve always had to train during my summers and stuff,” Dunne said with a bright smile. “So to be able to not have to do gymnastics training and be able to spend more time in Pittsburgh with Paul enjoying the baseball season, I’m looking forward to that.”

Does Olivia Dunne's witty comeback to the Detroit Tigers mascot show true sports loyalty or playful banter?

With her leotards temporarily packed away, Livvy’s all in for every inning of the MLB season. But she’s not just showing up as a supportive girlfriend—she’s got her sights set on a Pirates comeback, too. “Hopefully, the Pirates can turn things around,” she laughed. “They did not have the best series against the Marlins, but I’m excited to see what Paul can do and how his mindset and his leadership role can help the Pirates win.” The Pirates are trying hard to pull things off, and after Wrigley Field, Olivia was yet again present at the Pirates’ game to support them. So, from the balance beam to the ballpark, Olivia Dunne is entering a new chapter—and she’s clearly ready to hit it out of the park.
